Stepping Onto The Path: Beginning Shamanism

By popular request, I am offering this beginning class for students who want to learn the basics of shamanism. There is no prerequisite except an interest in and curiosity about the topic. We will learn the two things that shamans know. We will learn the dynamics and “how to” of the Shamanic Journey. We will find our power animals (or reaffirm our relationships with them.)  We will learn locations in the world of spirit to go for information. Finally, we will be healers and go to the spirits for help on behalf of another.

           The Shamanic Journey is a form of meditation which uses a background instrument, such as a drum or rattle, to help us to stay in the meditation. As in other forms of meditation, the physiological effects of a journey are lowered pulse and respiration rates, lower blood pressure, and changes in brain waves to alpha and theta states. In addition to enhancing our physical well-being, the journey is a tool by which we can access the knowing that we had all along.

           Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.  Bring a blanket and, if desired, your favorite pillow. You may want to bring a bandanna to wear over your eyes, to block out visual distractions. Bring a bag lunch, as the energy remains more intact if we stay together.

           This is an oral tradition, so bring a notebook to record your notes and personalexperiences. Bring your open heart and mind, and we will find the beauty of this   ancient knowledge together!

           The fee for the class is $45. Forty percent of the fee supports Unity By The Bay, and ten percent supports ACT.
